THEY were dressed in what looked like fast-food restaurant uniforms and getting busy - but not with burgers and fries.
Instead, the two men and a woman were getting down and dirty - and their romp was captured on video.
The video has since made its way online. A link to the video was posted on several popular local forums. It has also been circulated via handphone.
The five-minute video shows two men, dressed in maroon shirts resembling those worn by McDelivery staff members, engaging in various sex acts with a woman dressed in a checked shirt, similar to those worn by McDonald's counter staff.
They appear to be at a stairwell of a Housing Board block, in broad daylight, and seem to be aware that they are being filmed.
At one point, the woman even smiles at the camera. At another point, all three appear in the video, but it is not clear whether a fourth person filmed it.
Some netizens feel that the video has cast the fast-food chain in a negative light.
A reader, who had received the video on her handphone, e-mailed it to The New Paper. In a phone interview, she said one of her friends had been circulating the video via handphone.
The 27-year-old reader, who declined to be named, said: 'I was shocked to see what they were doing. My main concern was how unhygienic it would be if they happened to go back to work and handle food.'
APPALLED
Another netizen who saw the video said she was 'absolutely appalled'.
The 31-year-old said: 'What these people do outside work time is their own business. But they are in work clothes and this could mar the image of the company.'
Some bloggers also picked up on the video and posted responses from viewers.
One blogger questioned: 'Is the clip uploaded to the Internet to show off, or accidentally leaked out, like a certain Edison Chen?'
Hong Kong actor Edison Chen was embroiled in a sex scandal early this year when photos of him being intimate with other actresses were leaked online.
The blogger wrote: 'If this video becomes a 'public topic' like the Tammy scandal, surely McDonald's will have some damage control to do.'
'Tammy' refers to the homemade sex clip of a 17-year-old Nanyang Polytechnic student and her boyfriend, which was circulated on the Net.
When contacted, McDonald's senior communications manager, Ms Linda Ming, said that the company could not identify or confirm that the people in the video are employees of McDonald's.
She said: 'We take this matter very seriously because extremely valuable property rights in the McDonald's name and McDelivery trademark have been intentionally and irresponsibly abused and damaged.'
She added that a police report has been filed. The company is also doing its own investigations and has consulted its lawyers. It is taking steps to remove the video.
Ms Ming stressed that until the investigation result is revealed, it would be wrong to conclude the people in the video are employees of McDonald's.
'The company plans to take legal action against those who created and circulated the video,' she said.
She added: 'Our 6000-strong workforce in McDonald's is extremely shocked and repulsed by the irresponsible creation and circulation of this morally offensive video,' she said.
'Such behaviour is contrary to McDonald's people-first core values, and we do not condone such immoral behaviour.'
