I feel that making a maid to flush the toilet or switch off the tap is too much already . We have hands and legs . can do it by ourselves wad .

u're not naggy, deedee...it's good of you to highlight what your dad has to do to eke out a miserable earning. You have made us humble and become more aware and hopefully...more considerate also. Your dad is making an honest living and he is very blessed to have a good daughter like you who is so proud of him.

i never had a maid ~

few years back, i pondered on this question "how will i treat my maid if i ever have one?"

cos i see that it seems to be the norm for my classmates to have maids.. i asked my best friend how does she treat her maids (note: she has 3 maids in a 4 room hdb flat), she said "just leave them in the living room lor.. unless got things to do then call them come".

i concluded that i don't want to be like her, i want to treat my maid nice and good.. just like they are part of my family. but then again, i am someone who needs a lot of personal space and hiring some stranger to my home is a no-no for me.

i do wish Singaporeans can treat their maids better.

hee, although my family was poor, my parents did a good job bringing me up.

How can she have 3 maids under a HDB flat? Unless it some gathering so all relative or friends's maid gather. It not possible to have 3 maids. But 2 is possible. Used to have 2.. 1 to take care of household, the other take care of my grandpa who passed away.

Even rich people that I know of have the most 2 maids but I did see one family when I was in town. They had 3 maids all dress smartly in uniforms. Amazing!

If you really want to know, HK also have the tendency of demanding alot from maids. This is something that I learnt from a maid agency. Moreover, I think maids who come here to work have the wrong mindset. I once talked to a couple of them who all gave the same answers. They came to Singapore to work so that their families will have money to eat and build houses but they were told by friends about how easy it is to earn so much more when they work here. In their minds, doing housework is suppose to be like ABC but we all know it's not an easy matter. I once met a maid who spoilt everything in the house, taps, plates, cups and even the floor tiles... Power destroyer. *faint*

I think besides some of the owners who abuse their maids, I think maids should also work with a serious attitude. They take up huge loans to be here but yet they do not take it seriously.
