tech + means it will so call "heal" your hp bar when you hit buttons
def + means it will increase your max hp bar.

i never knew that,,, but i love this game haha any1 playing 8 buttons? to enable 8 button go option>difficulty change to hard mode.... and 8 button is unlocked i tried a bit but i keep losing T.T | |

err tech +5 = more enduring (your "hp" bar)
and as for 8 button u can just unlock by playing it
u can actually unlock 8 button in norm mode i think need to play 300 or 500 song in normal mode to unlock it =)
i am still on 4 and 5 button XD
6 button learning =P
8 button just unlock yesterday nah (after playing very long T^T)

when u start a game, dont press anything and start looking in your lower right of the game bar. if u notice something going down, that's ur hp bar.  | |
