Hello people from SG Club Forum! I've been thinking of creating a debate to have fun and also allow sgclubbers to learn/gain some knowledge through this!

However, before I can start, I'd need many support, such as judges and most importantly participants!

I'd explain the procedure of it and hope that it will arouse some interest within each and everyone of you! If there's any suggestion/feedback, please do let me know and if needed, I'll edit the post to ensure that this debate will run smooth.


1. Form a team of 4!

- There's no specification of age, sex or even where you stay. As long as the team consists of 4 people in a group, it will be deemed as qualified!

- To sign up, the team leader simply post a "New reply" in this thread and state his/her members. Please do label your team number

i.e, if I'm team leader and I want to register, I see e previous team number is 1, so I'd put:

Team 2
- leader's name
- members' name.

2. Procedure of the debate.

- If there are more than 2 teams, and a final even-numbered teams sign up for this debate, there will be few rounds i.e 1st round, quarter final, semi-final, final.....

- It will be the same procedure as any common debate that you've watched before, i.e "The Arena", just that for the time limit wise, the speaker(s) can only type in a reasonable post and any editing/adding of information after that is strictly not allowed. This is essential as that's the only fair and square method. (You wouldn't want it to be vice versa, where your opponent edit their reply and stuff like that)

- Point of information is allowed, however, for this debate, only up to 5 POI for each speaker. eg: I'm speaker 1 and my opponent is ABC. He's only allowed to POI to me 5 times.

- Marks, suggestion will be review by the judges and it will be finalised.

- The winning team for each round will be notified.

- The topic and the chose of against or along will be decided by the panel of judges.

3. Prizes.

- I'm trying to get sponsors to pool together a sum of SGC$ for the champion team, hopefully some helpful and generous sgclubbers will contribute to it!

In order to ensure that this debate will be a smooth one, I'd be the overall in-charge. I hope I'd not be flamed as this thread is considered not because of anything but the enjoyment of watching how our fellow sgclubbers state their point of view and allow the viewers to be equipped with knowledge at the same time.

to avoid any misunderstanding or confusion.

During the debate, the speaker has to start of by posting new reply with:

Speaker 1 of the opposition team:
-your content
and related.


The start of this debate depends mainly on the response of the participants. Hopefully we'll be able to start before CNY. If not, during or after CNY also shouldn't be a problem!

I sincerely hope everyone will support this debate as I personally feel that it will be really fun and interactive. We'll know more about our fellow sgclubbers! :biggrin4:

I will not be able to assist you as being a 'judge' requires 24/7 in this thread as long as the debate is on, which is crazy bah. :notimpressed2:

Hmm. i know. no la. no need to be 24/7. it's just like as long as there's an reply can alr. it's not like debate.. but its sth like debate. =x hm. no la. no need to start now.. tts y i mentioned after CNY.

Ehh as for e topic.. once there r teams and judges... we'll think abt it.. =) Else later all teams got e same topic then wrong le ma..
