hahahah. im my opinion, thats not the case. haha my english teacher also mentioned a topic similar to this before . i think this is normally how a tipical asian behaves lah, which is v different from ang mohs. i mean, if u compliment an ang moh that her cooking is really nice, she will be like " oh why thank you darling! you should try some of my steak too, its delicious!" but if u tell that to a singaporean , she will be like "oh no lah no lah, my cooking very lousy one lah. yours nicer . . "

hahahhh what i mean is that in SG people dare to call themselves fat because they KNOW the standard reply is gg to be "no way u're not fat!" precisely because we're a polite azn society. =p
and being MODEST is like an obsession here, though pple tend to take it to extremes. like in your example. LOL.

andand. from a girl's perspective, i think even the skinniest girl thinks she's fat. hence the eating disorder cases involving girls who were alr underweight in the first place.
