Default Credit Cards

I guess this would be the best place to post this.

I would like to know what credit cards You are using, and why? I need some help in cutting down the number of cards that I carry, especially the useless ones.

If possible, please give me a good combination of cards (not just the bank, the particular card pls), cuz I don't think there's any point in the cards duplicating benefits.

Also, please assume that the minimum income requirement is met.

These are the things that I DON'T need.....

1) Cards affiliated with things like Tangs, Robinsons, Metro etc. I've already got them for my parents, and I don't really shop anyway, so it's not much use for me.

2) Frequent Flier points. Don't want them.

3) Petrol discounts. Already got that covered.

There are so many banks, and each bank has sooo many cards, it's giving me a headache.

Thanks.

I use mainly frequent fliers card cause I do quite a bit of flying due to personal interest, but I do get feedback from some of my colleagues that citibank's dividend card is quite a good card.

Most of that's a cut and paste? The 5% is only applicable to petrol purchases made with the card. Makan (not in hotels), pharmaceuticals (at selected outlets) and 1 or 2 other things are 2%, the rest is 0.5%. It's ok la, I guess, altho the biggest savings in the 5% petrol is wasted on me since I have other discounts that cannot be combined.

okaaaaaay, I'll bite. Which card? But I certainly agree, having many cards is very much a hassle. That's why I'm trying to find out which are the better ones out there. Anyway, I think a single card is not sufficient. 2 should be ok for most of my purposes. The rest of the cards are for my parents, since they like to shop at those particular places.

So other than the citibank Div Plat card, anything else good out there? Say for makan, general savings, cash back, points and things like that.

I uses stan chart manhattan card, also give u cash back but very little only le. I charge a few thousand dollars, only get back afew dollars, for what? Not even enough for me to buy a pack of cigies. I rather get points to redeem for movie tickets and stuffs. I charged like 10k in 3months, get back afew dollars only on the 4th month. (don't know how they caluculate also) When I see the dividend I burst out laughing. If I had charge to my other cards, I would get so many movie tickets liao.

i take train to work everyday, i use citibank-SMRT card, it gives me free ride, i think.
i dun like cc, i dun have habit to pay bills on time.
i still prefer my debit card.

Hahaha, no offence but that number borders on the ridiculous, and I thought I had a lot. But hey, to each his/her own. I already can't handle all the junk mail i've got with my current cards, and all the cards that I don't use (but the banks insist on giving to me) are chucked in my drawer, collecting dust.

Anyway, the thread's not asking for a list of credit cards that you have, just what's useful. I could sign up with every card under the sun, but i wouldn't be any the wiser.
