THEY had three young children of their own in their car, but that didn't deter MadamShen, 32, and her husband from stopping to rescue another child.
The couple were taking their children to kindergarten yesterday morning when they came across a terrible scene in Alor Star in Kedah.
A car had collided with a lorry and was totally smashed, reported Sin Chew Daily.
A crowd had gathered around the wreck, but no one did anything.
The young woman driver was trapped in the car. Miraculously, two children who were in the car - a 1-year-old baby and a 12-year-old boy - were alive.
Madam Shen grabbed the bleeding baby from the vehicle.
She said: 'The only thing we could do was to carry the baby away and take her to a hospital in the shortest time possible.'
The baby's mother, Madam Zhuang Lizhen, 31, died on the way to hospital, while the 12-year-old boy was only slightly hurt.
Madam Zhuang, a secretary at a car workshop, was taking her nephew to a tuition class when the accident occurred.
She had planned to take her baby to the temple to pray for good luck that day as it was the child's first birthday.
Madam Zhuang's husband was inconsolable when he heard the news of his wife's death.
The baby is now in stable condition, but remains warded for observation.
The nephew, who suffered only minor injuries, went on to take an examination later in the afternoon.
