Default companies that dont pay on time

for example, the usual practice is to credited the salary in your bank account on the 28th of each month. But a few days later, you have not received it.

How do you usually confront companies that dont pay on time? Its very hard and malu to approach the boss (those without HR) for the pay especially for those small companies.what is a better way to prompt the boss to pay on time?
