For simplicity, I'll take it as corneal infection as it is one common infection that may lead to blindness
Okay. Here are some symptoms that you may have if you have an ongoing corneal infection.
1) redness
2) eye pain
3) very sensitive to light
4) poorer vision
5) mucous discharge <---- take note of the colour: if colourless/white could be indicative of viral infection. for yellow and greenish colour, it could mean a bacterial infection
If you're suspecting that you have a corneal infection, DO NOT WEAR YOUR CONTACT LENSES. PLEASE see a doctor IMMEDIATELY. If the infection penetrates into the stromal layer or deeper, you would have a permanent corneal scar. And depending on the location of the scar, you may have partial blindness.
I hope that helps. |

Some of the possiblities that may explain her blurry vision includes:
1) onset of myopia (short-sightedness) with or without astigmatism (she may need to wear specs)
2) corneal swelling/ stainings
3) corneal infection (refer to the symptoms that I have mentioned in the previous posting)
4) corneal scarring
I hope it's not option 3 or 4. |

UNLESS, that person has thyroid disease, which may in turn, causes a proptosis (bulging out) of the eyes as the disease progress. But even so, it has nothing to do with wearing of colour lenses or any other lenses. |

If you continue to wear, it will most probably persist or even worsen.
Let your eyes rest for a week without contact lenses and see how it goes. At anytime you feel sharp pain, please consult a doc. Corneal infection like one caused by Pseudomonas aeruginosa actually takes ONLY one day to completely melt your WHOLE cornea. Ya, it's the worst corneal infection that one can have, but sadly, it's also very common. |
