I think both important bah actually u know more better lol can do more business with more ppl haha

to fall in love is always easy
to start a relationship is always simple
to build it, is always tough
to maintain it, is 'better said than done'
to break off, is 'easier said than done'
to remain friends after u broke off, is never possible
to forget the memories is 'always doing but never succeeding'
to heal the pain within is hard and tough and never near simple
but one has to try to heal your own heart...

I still think it is English in Singapore. To be honest, I think most of the locals here have a poor command of Mandarin, which is kind of sad considering that it is the mother tongue of the majority! The government emphasises on it because we'll need it to keep up with the rapid development of China. Meanwhile, to survive in Singapore I think English more important. Road signs, job interviews, communication, all those common stuff you come into contact with daily, are mostly in English. Mandarin is just a bonus, it would be pretty useful to have it. So now, we should focus on being able to speak both languages, because in the near future the major markets will be USA and China.

English and Mother Tongue are both essential. It's not just Chinese... there are also Malay and Tamil etc. Why is it that we don't hear news about Malays not speaking in Malay or Indians not speaking in Tamil etc? Why are Chinese not excelling in Mandarin anymore? I think it's something worth pondering, and I will NOT accept my own kids in future to skip learning their Mother Tongue. Many other races hold their own native language much highly compared to English etc, and I felt quite disgraceful when there are Chinese who can't even handle their own native langauge. What makes you think Chinese is more difficult? The Japanese people speak Japanese and Koreans speak Korean... cos it's only right for one to know and speak one's mother tongue. Why have some local Chinese become such a weird bunch?
