Bus fare cheats

Was on the bus today and I met the sharpest bus driver ever. He was aggressively catching bus fare cheats and he is very alert indeed.

He managed to catch someone cheating the fare at every other stop. though he only caught 3 in total but do note this is because the bus only traveled for 5 stops before it went up the expressway.

Totally impressed with the bus driver but disgusted with the cheats. Was a waste of the whole bus-full of passengers time as he went out of his driver seat to nab the cheats. One of them was even a very young pretty working female adult.

How to cheat? Put coins instead of using EZlink card?

I exprience 1 time before,
I think it's a bus 61.

I board the bus at vivo city, and during the next stop i think there's a uncle who board the bus from the exit(It's a double lengthed bus), then apparently the bus driver didn't know who the person is, but he keep insist that the bus should not move if the person did not admit and pay his fare.

This carries on around 15mins. In the end, the cheat was not caught though. And the bus was pack with people. The driver was still trying to find out whose the person is , he keep looking behind from his plane mirror and travel the bus like 20km/hr. Wth lo, waste the people's time.

If the bus driver don't know and waste people time, can complain already.

those people near the exit didnt expose the culprit for wasting their time?

Transport cost keep on increase, people sure have to cheat loh. Bus technical error also deduct your fare wrongly, I wonder how many people go back to claim back the small amount of deducted fare. U get caught, they deduct double fr u. When they made error, do they return double back to u.

What bus was that? I took 197 (or was it 198) from school before and there was this bus driver who was really aggressive in checking our fares... and I mean really checking because he scrutinized everybody that boarded even though there was alot of us boarding. Sounds just like what you described lol. He looks fierce too.

Like you, I do admire his effort in making sure nobody cheats but it can get on your nerves especially if it slows things down. Furthermore, he wasn't polite, he was really blunt and harsh. =\

i kenna once before.. i knew i tapped already cos i saw the light up and the bus driver called me or sumthing but i didn't hear cos Mp3 on and i was at the end of the long bus.. then the driver got out came to me and said "eh xiao jie please tap ni de card hor.. " in a very xia lan way.. like want to fight liddat then i walk all the way back to the front and guess what =.= it says enty ok.. and then i turn to him and stare and him and ask him song liao bo and then i purposely "push" him and walked to my seat.. entire bus ride he was speeding shyts and kenan screamed at by other ple standing cos he made them fall quite a few times.. i think when reached interchange got pple complaint.. cos nowadays no see that driver le..

Many are repeat offenders, i think what deter these cheaters are not public embarrassment but rather punishment, should have tougher enforcement on the fine...

i've got one incident too . jus 2 days ago . was taking 174 at SGH towards boonlay .

my card bal was low . and i intend to keep it for mrt rides etc etc .
cuz bus can put coins mah . so use coins instead of ezlink .
den i put 55cts . the uncle asked me " 55cts only ah " ?
den i jittao dulan , and told him "arbo ? $55 ah ? "
den he asked me to show him card . den i took out and he asked me to scan to prove that im a student . i told my card still have money but i want to keep it for mrt rides .
he insisted to ask me scan my card .
den i dulan jus walked off . he also nothing to say .
den halfway at the traffic light he take the ticket and pass to me at my seat .

but hes so stupid , he can check my birthdate . but he didnt and insisted to ask me scan

I also saw quite a few such cases but most bus drivers are pretty sharp to actually go after the cheater and ask them to tap their Exlink card again. But I had to agree it really waste the time of others especially when the cheater dun admit it.

bus fare cheats are very common here.
i saw alot of aunties n uncles just tapped the card when the boarded the bus n tapped the card at the back door of the bus once they stepped into the inner area.how much can they save?
ugly singaporean behaviour.
