Blogging used to be a personal thing, you blog because you want to record a moment in your life. Perhaps about only 20 people will read your blog everyday, mainly friends and relatives..

In today's blogosphere, people now blog not only for their own BUT for others too. There are bloggers getting like a few thousand views a day, becoming a mini-celebrity in the blogosphere. Getting recongnized for their blogging content and effort.

In the recent straits times - Digital Life,

The article was on how much u can earn through blogging. The 5 bloggers interviewed was TypicalBen, Thy-dowager, Dawn yang, Princessa and food blogger, leslie tay.each getting thousands of traffic hits a day I was really shocked at the amount they are earning through blogging and how much they are earning! And to many people's surprise, what they are earning can be compared to a Part time job out there!

Break-down

Typical Ben earns $200 to $500 a month!
Thy-dowager earns $500 to 2000 a month!!
Princessa earns $1500 to 2000 a month!!!
Dawn yang earns $4000 to 6000 a month!!!!

Lastly, Xiaxue with 20,000 readers a day can get at least $1000 a week from Nuffnang alone!!!!! (Not counting other blog revenue)

If they are comfortable with getting income by publicising their life, then nothing wrong with it. However sometimes looking at too much ads on their blog make it seem like a commercialised website rather than a blog. What is supposed to be a simple personal website has evolved into a revenue generating website.

To me, I prefer my life to be simple and enclosed within my friends and relatives. Blogging, to me is not to earn money but to share my life with loved ones. All in all, it is still how u perceive blogging as. If u feel that u should be rewarded with money for ur contribution, by all means go ahead and strike it big.. If u feel that blogging is what I described, then keep it simple.

i dont mind being like them. i consider this a passive income since you're earning while you're doing something else and only post during your free time.

but how they get such hits in the first place??

in the end its not the money that counts...its how good the content your blog is that attracts your visitors
most of them are just doing it for fun...

Why run and hide?

Bloggers earn income, mainly from Nuffnang, Adverlets or Google Adsense.
But most people blog because it's an interest, not for the money.
Unless you are really famous in the blogosphere/ getting a lot of hits a day,
chances is that you won't earn a lot from blogging...

cos u also earn quite alot mar ^^ ur innit post always get alot of nang hor ya and like wad u say i blog is jus to let go of feelings ^^

I was discussing about this issue with my mum and my teacher (two different occasions) quite some time ago. Both of them were like saying how they wouldn't mind such a job - can eat good food and wear nice clothes without much effort.

However they do have a pretty large price to pay for their fame after all, especially for those female bloggers who post their pictures on their blog (and gain more fame from the tikos that way xD). Look at Xiaxue, ever since she became popular so many people started to hate her and label her as a bimbo etc when they don't even really know her.

If it's me I rather not get so famous. Earning some money from nuffnang would be nice (but I don't know how to lol) but getting famous seems like too much.

people are earning tons of money from it, politics and all.
the world is changing.

to live like xiaxue would be cool..
you have a cool job that doesnt give you that much stress?
