The food & activities are very expensive. Mainly there's is nothing to shop over there. So you will be juz lazing ard & relaxing. It's juz the Sun & Sea.
Even the massages are like singapore spa rates. Of coz you can find cheaper ones but have to search ard. In Bintan Lagoon Resort, the massages in the hotel itself costs at least $80plus. If you go to their beach, there's also massages at a cheaper rate, ard half price. But I duno if they are gd or not.
So if you are going there, juz relax n enjoy, try not to think so much abt the prices.... heehee
what abt batam?
are they accepting only sing dollars?

Sorry I never been to Batam before. :mellow3:
But I heard from my friends it's cheaper. As for the currency, think only some places accept SGD.

yes yes yes, i can also feel that its a rip-off. i went to angsana resort a few years back, the pasar Oleh Oleh, we took at cab there, it costs us SGD$10.00. we only pay a few mins phone call bk to SG, it costs us $15.00! We went to a restaurant for some nice dinner and drinks, the dinner each costs us US$50.00 each. The glass of wine at SGD$15.00 each. Oh my god, i shall never want to go bk there again. i feel cheated, they either accepts only SGD or US. Anyway its not fun there anyway, kinda boring

Hmm, went to Bintan in 2005. The only time I was there, stayed @ Angsana, prices all in USD... But seriously, I thk it's pretty relaxing... Despite everything being so expensive...

I like the ferry part too, cos it makes the timing more flexible... If flight, I dun thk there would be so many flights per day...

I just went there in June recently and had the same shock as you did. I was qutie tempted to go to Tanjong Pinang but I think the journey frm my resort was around 1 hour there so decided against it.

I think there this Kelong Seafood Restaurat there which is still not that rip off. can consider going there.
