is it true what the mother will dote on her son more than daughters and the father will dote on his daughter more than the son?

Seem balance but what if that family is a single parent family?

I'm talking about my family.

My mother always listen to whatever things my bro say.

My brother can talk back and he don't have to do the household chores

he just order his poor tired and busy sisters around to help him do this and that.

his sisters have to study and work.

i don't know what is he doing everyday at home,

although he's still studying in uni, he's like forever at home using the computer.

my brother's sch fee is so expensive

and i think he just skipped his lectures and only go to school for exams

i don't even know which year he's in now.

he do wash his own clothes(simply because we wouldnt help him to wash, and if he wants to have clothes to wear he have to wash it)

but he's like expecting us to clean his other stuff.

and my mother just don't care,

so in the end is the daughters in the family suffer.

In my family, i got a bro and my parents are not divorced..
Don't really got any favourism in my family...
Btw, is yr mother those old-fashioned type?
Because, older generartion mother & even father tend to favour the son more, esp if he is the only son in the family...
They have this concept that Guy more useful than Girl..
Like those China ppl way of thinking.. And due to the 1 per family rule set by the government in China, they always want a boy and when they may even resort to killing their own baby if it is a girl...

Btw, back to the point, yr mother is those old-fashioned type one ?
They also have this thinking of girls --> housework / housewife Guys ---> make money
May be yr mother treat yr bro well because he got into uni, and therefore yr mother thinks that yr bro nid all the help he can get so as to do well.. Thus, leaving the crappy work to u girls and asking him to just concentrate on his studies..

Personally, dun agree to the old-ppl way of thinking.. Jus plain crapppy..

and i think my mother have the mindset that oh only my son will take care of me when i'm old.

like bullshit.

I love my mother and i will take care of her even though i think she's bias towards my bro.

and i got a sister who's also studying in a local university (the fees are not as expensive as my bro's)

and i think my mother is afraid of my brother? ):

when my brother show my mother attitude, she wouldnt be as angry as when the daughters did the same thing.

i think it's a kind of "tradition"? to dote on the son more.

mom, me n sis VS. Dad n Zac (dog)

ultimately the winner would be the 3 of us cuz Zac is on our side.

My parents favours on both depending on the situation..

most of the time favours my sis la.

quite true on this... I have friend who's mum dote on her brother more than her... but her father dote on her too... whenever her brother did wrong, and she complain to her mum, her mum will side him... saying he is younger, must give way to him etc... but when his father came to know, he will reprimand the brother...

PS: She is 25 and he is 23
