Best Modchip for wii? - Singapore's Online Community

I am a newbie, i need help on getting Wii.

1) I wanted to buy a modded wii(not Jap set), where is the best place to get it?

2) What is the best modchip in the market? I've heard Wasabi is good as it is region free and direct boot all games, Infectus2 is same as wasabi but with 512kb flash memory. So which modchip is better? are there any other choices? and where can i get those?

Experienced wii gamers please help.........

I think Wasabi is the best. It 's better than D2C or Wiikey. So sad that there 's no wasabi chip in Vietnam. >""< . Does it have in Singapore ?

Most shop in Singapore selling wii with wasabi now.

am i right to say, if i buy a local wii and mod it and only play ntsc/us game, i wouldnt brick my set at all right...even game like mario galaxy i can update safely?

If you mod it with the latest modchip, you can play games from all regions.

You can download a tool that can remove updates from wii games, i think it's call wiiBrickBlocker.
First rip the game into your pc(.iso), then run the tool to remove the update.
After removing them, just burn the game(.iso) to a dvd and you can play without worries.

It's troublesome, but it's safe.

how abt WUM (Wii Update Manager)? can this do the same as WBB?

wasabi may be the best as promised but its flaw is that there is a small probability that it may not work with all the drives..

wasabi.. $140. currently there's no update available for the wasabi chip despite their 128KB flash memory claim. if ur wii is new, u can't use the wasabi either, gotta get the wasabi2.

I oso want to know, why the d2d is more expensive than the d2cpro. Btw, how good is the d2cpro? Can play all the games currently? But does not allow firmware upgrade of the chip rite? So is it advisable to spend more in getting a good chip?
