There is actually 2 train system in BKK. One is called the subway which travels underground and has 16 stations. It travels across the city with 3 stations linking it to the other system called BTS. BTS is more like our skytrains but on a more larger scale. It reach the outer area of BKK.

You can either buy a tourist card(its like our E-Z link card) or have small change or notes to buy from the ticket machine. Alternatively, you can buy from their control station but you need to know how to pronouce the name of the station you want to go as most of them speak little English.

They do understand English but you must speak slowly and clearly and make your English as simple as it can be.

It would be your advanstage if you can speak and understand a little of the Thai langauge. It will goes a long way.

BEware of the TRAffic..cuz got traffic jam during morning and night.
Walk to your destination..cuz when your caught in a traffic jam..the fare will be =.=""
Even better get a person who can speak thai.so ppl won't con you.
BEcareful of theives, keep your valuables near you.Ohya..Dun act like you neber been there before, cuz those street vendor SURELY will sabo you..Like At Wat Phra Keow , or the king house outside there will be this field or a fountian filled will pigeons, there will be a COrn seller. those corn are to feed the birds, then if those vendor come toward you and offer you a packet, DUN TAKE IT, ITs NOT FREE!!!
YOu take one they will GIve you another one ..and another...until they finish..you will have to pay for all those packets.Anyway Wat phra Keow is not that bad, just buy 1kg of rice before you go there, cuz you can feed those pigeons!! It one of a kind experience, cuz you can't do it in Sg.If your scared of bird flu..then Visit the King's palace.NO Camera is allowed inside!~

I know the last time i went, we took the train then switch to bus to go to wat po... as we were walking there, we were approached by tuk tuks that told us that the wat po was close cos of special holiday... They told us that they will bring us for some sightseeing until wat po opens. That was a whole of bull... The place was never closed.

Anyone knows if the suan lum night market is still open? Heard the gov is going to close it down. Its a great place to visit. The chinatown area is super crowded! Quite alot of things to see though. Give the sharkfin soup a miss though, nothing special to me (but of course i couldn't afford the most expensive type, haha). Visit the chatuchak wknd market if you happen to be there on a Saturday or Sunday, Central World Plaza for upmarket stuff(the food in the foodcourt there is quite affordable though),MBK and Siam Square would be nice places to visit.

And yes, i found the exchange rate better in BBK airport better than in SG. So you might just want to change a little over here and check out the exchange rate there. Get some small notes for tips too!~ Enjoy your trip!
