anyone done backpacking b4? dunnoe if its called backpacking but its the one where u go on a long hike wif a backpack or something.. prolly can call it a road trip but on foot??

can share ur experience?? and tell me wheres nice to backpack

yeah i been backpacking before.. actually as long as u stay in a hostel, budget holiday(means u spend more on walking and hiking) that's already consider backpacking.

For westerners, backpacking is staying away for 1 mth or more and go around the area/places without staying in a hotel, but hostel and also some might hiking thru' mountain to mountain.

For me. i been to Japan (hokkaido) with another friend of mine for 10 days and we go on budget things like buy most of our food at 100 yen shops, walk for longer distance and also stay in the hostels thru' out and also visit attractions places without going on by land tour and look on maps and ask ppl around( with foot and hand pointing).. haha

Done some backpack in Cambodia, HongKong , Barcelona as well...

Well if u want backpacking, everywhere also can, but depends on what u want. :biggrin4:

i guess as long as i have a nice scenery.. i shouldnt complain too much ^^ heard south america not bad to go backpacking >.< maybe i save up and go there nxt holi

When I was younger, I had this plan to travel from Singapore to Europe, then tour Europe by backpacking... All without taking plane... Really road trip, train all the way there...

wow sounds challenging.. Can be done actually..if u have Alot of MONIES, i may do that coz it may require alot of time to travel and months as well.

When u did it, dont forget to write a whole journal about it!! Coz it'll be very amazing journey.. :rock:

Yup yup. I wanna go to Argentina and Cuba someday.. If u like scenery, u'll love New Zealand, Some part of Australia also nice and also UK n some Europe places.. Me wanna go Greece some day .. Coz their architecture and somemore surrounded by Sea( if i'm not wrong)..

err.. actually Europe stuff not that ex then problem is the exchange rate.
And also flying from London to other EU(Europe) places also cheap..
Which part of EU u wanna go? Well i am not so sure think , SGD 3000-SGD 4000 can make it for couple of places. Well u can do some luxury things like spend abit more money on those countries food and also some famous places that may require entrance fee or day tour. But stay in Dorm is good enuf, coz in EU, all each bed have their own locker.(so very safe with all ur staff) n u could meet some new friends.

At least draft ur holiday place that u wanna . Actually flying from Sg to London also not that ex. once it was offer abt SGD 600 for 2 ways.

I went to Barcelona (spain) beginning of this mth, it cost me abt £200 ( incl airfares and dorm) for 4 days 3 nites(include Bfast and Dinner). Try to come off peak, then u might get some cheap airfares.

Hi KeN,

If u first time backpack and afraid u can consider country where near to Singapore.
If by bus, can consider Haiyat (Thailand) about 15 hrs or by boat to batam (Indonesia). Myself go backpack to Haiyat because low cost, (accommodation cheap, and Meals are cheap also). Good experience. Hong Kong (hotel expensive, but stay at my friend house) ...

Apparently you seems to travel a lot!!! I am adding you as my buddy so we can share more travelling tips!!!

Btw I have backpacked in the US for 1 month. Road trips and a domestic flight from the East coast to the West coast!! Memorable experience. And I am heading to Camobodia, Thailand and Laos next week!!! Wish me luck!! wahahha

heeh wow cambodia. i been there last end May.. U will love it.. i love the Ang Kor Watt.!! the architecture is so amazing..

Oh , dont get cheated by local taxi( that from Airport) , they will try to sell u their service to bring u to ang kor watt and it costy, but depends on u thou..

you can just hire a street motor taxi for a whole day, n u'll never forget that experience.. I did that with my mates.. It was fun and not expensive at all..

depends on where u go.. I backpacked in Hokkaido for 10 days n it costed me SGD3000 include airtic , accomodation and expenses.. and i really enjoy it.. coz there's no direct flight from Spore to Hokkaido , so have to transit from Narita airport, that's the reason the airtic costed me abt SGD 1300... And the rest like transport and hostels and food and stuff.. But it's really really enjoyable experience..

For HK, actually u can go for backpack as well. not ex at all.. I did that with my mates as well.. And i think it costed me SGD 400~500 for 7 days in HK ... hehe

But normally depends on where u go.. :shifty3:

one suggestion, travel light if u really need to walk alot...
