Didn't last long, 'cause the pay sucked and had to do OT without pay.. and had to deal with, not difficult customers, but difficult supervisor and a malicious ass-kissing junior colleague. ~_~
The job itself was interesting. I love FO dept. Get to deal with alot of ppl. I don't mind difficult customers.. 'cause I believe they have a valid reason to be difficult. It's a challenge to right the wrong for them, and the appreciation they show you later is totally worth the effort.
If the pay is good, I wouldn't mind going back to the hospitality industry.. |

I was from SHATEC.
In this industry starting pay is not very high and you have to work very hard to be successful. That is why a lot of my classmates are no longer in this industry.
A lot of people say that this industry is very bitchy wo.... To view links or images in signatures your post count must be 10 or greater. You currently have 0 posts. There cannot be a crisis next week. My schedule is already full. |

I've never worked as a full timer before in the hotel industry but worked for around 5 years on part time basis in one of the hotels in Orchard as an admin.. From what I observe, my full time colleagues normally have no nights no days, it's like u can start @ 7am and leave work only @ 1-2am.. And no matter what qualifications you have, you normally have to start low.. Cos u still need to get to know the hotel, the way it works and lots of other stuff... Alot of hard work, but I've also seen many pple enjoying the job cos they like to meet new pple and interact with pple.. Basically, they just like what they do.. So I guess whether this industry is good for you or not depends on yourself..
About being bitchy.. I suppose there are alot of places where there are pple being bitchy as well, it's not confined within the hotel/tourism industry.. Sometimes I think that the more women there are in an area, conflicts start to happen more often.. Just my own thoughts.. =) |

Total SGC$: 1,145.95 | Re: Anyone where working in the Hotels or Tourism Industry? you can't really blame them for being bitchy... it's a high pressure industry. not everybody can handle frontline jobs. you can't vent it out on customers.. so the poor newbie or lower rank staff will get it.
it's an industry to be in while you're still young and unmarried. one thing good is because it's a mobile work.. you're not confined to a four wall office. even as an officer/supervisor you still have to walk the floor and meet ppl.
It's fun while it lasts... but after awhile.. you just get sick n tired of it. |

Of course along the way, I do see some people who are lucky and know how to score points and climb up without much knowledge and experience. This is part where by it it bitchy lo To view links or images in signatures your post count must be 10 or greater. You currently have 0 posts. There cannot be a crisis next week.
