I like oldies too. Actually I enjoy trying any type of song and decide for myself if I like it or not. Some oldies actually are part of history and when I listen, I can imagine how it feels like living in that era.

Example 1: Rolling Stones magazine and band are based on a 1965 song "Like A Rolling Stone" by Bob dylan which revolutionized Rock & Roll style. Try listening to the lyrics. Its very powerful.

Example 2: For those who love zouk should know Velvet Underground. But I find not many knows where the name come from. Its album (The Velvet Underground and Nico, 1967) that was not famous at the time but the first album that introduced punk, new wave and gothic rock. And the famous banana album cover was made by Andy Warhol.

80's for me is Michael Jackson when he was still human, Madonna when she still looks like a virgin, and Cyndi Lauper singing about 'bopping'. Others are Spandau Ballet and OMD.
