jux like to check if anyone into Art movies/Award Winnin movies???
i tot these movies r rare gems tat r underrated n underappreciated in SG...
yes, most of them r far better than Hollywoods n the usual HK, Taiwan stuff...
in plot, direction, artors/actresses, special effects etc...
anyone 1 2 share some???

HMM but i thought some hollywood movies are also award winning?? Like LOTR?
I watched quite a few art movies liao...but i din remb all the titles. during 2005 international film fest, i watched most of films - FAR SIDE OF THE MOON, MILLIONS, etc cuz my fren was working there n i got free tix! hahah To view links or images in signatures your post count must be 10 or greater. but LOTR not v v nice leh...
mayb a Cannes or something like tat will b good...
Oscar a bit cmi...
more for commercial than artistic value...
i think the story of "Records of the Lodoss War" s better even though it s an anime...
but i m intrested in the free tix leh..

Talking about Japanese films, several came to my mind, although some see them as animations like Disney's. I particularly like anime films by Studio Ghibli. Most of these are not award winning films, but I consider them as having deeper contents and messages within them.
1. Spirited Away, 2001 film (winner, Academy Award for Best Animated Feature, 2002)
2. Grave of the Fireflies
3. Ocean Waves
4. Only Yesterday
5. Princess Mononoke
6. Spirited Away
1 of the films not in anime style which I like is " The Professor's Beloved Equation" 
As for Korean films, I don't know any that has won any awards yet, but there are many blockbusters and highly sought after by foreign film festivals. Refer to here
A couple of Korean films which I had watched and felt good are:
1. Musa
2. Il Mare
3. My Sassy Girl
There are many others recommended in the above website and I'll post my comments after watching them.

My fren no longer worked on those international film fest liao (it was temp job - wat a pity!) I watched the closing anime - GHOST IN THE NUTSHELL 2 with her n 2 other frenz.. Not bad la.
