If for example, you go to the bank on 16/7 morning, your application may not reach the authorities on time!!
Therefore, you should have applied for it the moment this announcement was made, which was last thursday, 12/7.
You can go down to the bank on friday, 13/7 too. No problem.
Now, you can only apply for the next upcoming Treasury bill, which will be announced on this coming thursday, 19/7. Either you go down to the bank on 19/7 afternoon, or you can go on friday, 20/7. This is to make sure that your application reaches the authority on time on monday 23/7.
After submitting your application on thursday (we use thursday as an example), you just have to wait till monday evening then go to the sgs website to view what is the actual yield that you will be getting. After getting to know what is the yield you are going to receive, the amount will be deducted from your bank acount on 26/7 and the full face value will be returned to you on the maturity date.
I asked POSB before, no..you can't apply for treasury bills there. However, their parent bank (DBS) is able to do it.
Hope i am clear in my explaination. I am very weak when it comes to explaination. Sorry for any confusion caused (if there's any)... |

thks for your explanation on treasury bills. it is very clear. | | | | | i think if you find that it is a hassle of opening xtrasaver together with esaver, then perhaps you can just open esaver account, then when you need the money, you just transfer it to another bank's account. But do take note that such inter-bank transfers take usually about 2 to 3 working days to process. |

provided that you have an account with them.
but bear in mind that they will deduct a spread from the actual yield that you are getting as this is their commission for allowing you to purchase from them.
If i am not wrong, the spread is about 0.15%. (someone please corect me if i am wrong as i do not purchase through poems)
so if annoucement of t-bill yield from MAS is 2.2%, the actual yield that you will get is 2.05%. |
