Hi vinc_vls

You may want to consider treasury bills. More information can be found here at the Singapore Government Securities Website: http://www.sgs.gov.sg/

My blog also has articles on how you can invest in treasury bills.

For best FD interest, can consider http://www.qotion.com or Maybank. http://www.maybank.com.sg

Be well and prosper!

How about unit trust? There are also many capital-guarranteed structured deposit out there, but the returns quiet low.

Dear grinmonzter

Structured products typically are structured to favour the financial institution creating the product and not to the individual who buys it.

For no frills, safe and are by the government, consider treasury bills. My blog below has a couple of write-ups on treasury bills. Go to my technorati tag cloud and choose the treasury bills portion. ;-)

Be well and prosper.

I am an amateur investor myself but have been investing my own money for the last 6-7 years or so. ;-) I have paid some tuition fees in losing money in unit trusts.. So now I am my own fund manager for most of my investible savings...

Their rates look good at 2% for below $100,000 for 1 mth but the catch is that you have to join a union and pay union fees.

HOw much is that per year? You need to calculate that in order to get the net interest you are getting back less the costs unless you are already an NTUC union member.

if you're only considering FD, try the finance companies instead of the banks. marginally higher interest rates...

it's (almost) always high risk high returns. no free lunch yah?

When depositing in overseas banks, there will be currency risk. TS may want to consider that before dealing with overseas banks.

If that's the case then it's not bad. 2% is decent if the minimum balance is low.

For me, I like treasury bills. :-)
