If you use a normal LCD TV to play the ps3 games, the game will only be display in 480p which is really doing a disservice to the PS3.
If you own a HDTV, the minimium display will be 720p. the jump from 480 to 720 is very big in terms of the graphics.
but note that, even if you have a HDTV, u still need to have connecting cables which can display HD grahpics like Component AV cable or HDMI cable(highly recommended) . | |

So Technically lol, To Put it In A Simple Sense, It Brings Out The Background Much Much More, If You Play E.g Metal Gear Solid 4, On A Normal TV, The Whole Picture Quality Will Look As If Its Cramped Into A Small Box, Which Makes It Hard To See Any Small Objects, While Playing On A HDTV It Brings Out Alot Of Things, Which Lets You See The Whole Background Without Squinting.
And Ya I Had My PS3 And HDTV For like 6 months now, but for the first 3 months i didnt have enough cash to buy the HD Cable "WHICH WAS FREAKING 60 bucks" Sooo instead i played it normally X_X at first it didnt have a difference then when GTA4 came out i noticed a big difference... sooo ya lol
