I use my CPF to buy Unit Trusts. Returns are much better than what the garment give.

If use CPF invest, the profit definitely go back to your CPF account 1. My paper profit this year already exceed 10k. :biggrin4: If not for the subprime woes, can earn more. Lost a few ks in property funds. :cry3:

this is the wish of most of SIngaporean, to able to take out the profits.
quite a long time back, those using CPF to invest in stocks, can withdraw their profits...but PAP feels that this is a lope-hole for Singaporean to take out their CPF's money before they reached their retirement's age, so they stopped it.
Of coz, they will always give a lot of reason for it.

our generation may not even get the chance to touch or use our CPF upon retirement. the withdrawal's age and minimum sum, will just keep-on increase. furthermore, most of Singaporean uses CPF to pay for their housing...

Cheers,

For those non financial savies, if you have a long time horizon, its feasible if you invest in a broadly diversified fund/unit trust. Average returns/annum over the long run can range from 6% up to 10% or more/year. Beating your 2.5% by a large margin.

I invested a portion of my CPF and seems to be doing quite well. Anyway, it doesn't matter me cause even if I leave the money with CPF board, I cannot spend the money nor use it for other purposes. Furthermore, I am still young and not planning to buy a flat yet. Might as well give it a try and invest it to let it grow.

i personally feel that for those who has not used CPF for their housing loan can use CPF for investments. Next yr onwards, must maintain a min sum of 20k in ordinary account and only the amt exceed 20k then can touch. CPF only earning 2.5% interest now and nxt yr 3.5% for 1st 20K.

If now dun have much in CPF, might as well take out the min sum which is 5k to invest for long terms.

usually investments will earn profits if the agent is good enuff to noe when to switch the funds, something like playing shares BUT have to put for many yrs. :biggrin4:

hmm...jus my own view..

As long as you can afford to wait, your chance of getting a good return is very high.

You earn more if you don't switch funds too often. Each fund requires a long time to grow into money. By switching, it like replanting the seeds and have to start from scratch again. Funds will goes up and down, up and down, up and down.

If you want to speculate, then it always good to try options, warrant, futures and fx. Your hearts can stop if it acts against you.

I would suggest to look into all the past performance for the funds performance on all the investments before making a quick decision

Otherwise you can choose a capital protected plan.
Advisable to look before you leap, as CPFOA is usually used to pay for property in the future.
