for me.. i also use points.. but mine is different..

e.g.

Hour Day Month Year
辛 乙 壬 己
- metal - wood + water - earth

已 丑 申 未
- fire - earth + metal - earth

since the day master is wood. the fav element or supporting element is wood itself and and water (according to the cycle of birth)

so other then the self.. that is wood, there are no other wood around on the macro.
as for supporting element, there is 1 water present.
that that means its 1 point for wood.
6 point against wood.

thus we can determine that the day element is a weak wood.

ya.. so that is my point systems.. or rather the way i was taught. of course this is only on the marco.. later we still have to look into the hiddens, season and many more
