Do you agree that Sporeans lack of basic courtesy?

hi everyone!
personally feel that sporeans lack of basic courtesy..still remember few mths ago, 'TODAY' newspaper showed picture of a youngster not giving up his seat to one blind man who was standing right infront of him..

really wonder if we should blame on the parents for not educating their children?

this is a basic courtesy..to give up seats to ppl who need more than us..elderly and pregrant lady..

really cant stand those ppl who can pretend nothing happens when they see ya..or simply pretending to sleep..

unlike other countries like japan, europe countries..the ppl are so kind..

Its true... and it has been complaint for so many times already... but nothing much we can do if thats how the school and parents are teaching the kids nowadays... Maybe when the parents get olds they will realize how the feeling is.... and begin to educate their childrens.

You reminded me the Civics & Moral Education in my primary school (many years ago)

Most people get 90 and above or even full marks... but I always get less than that... because I totally can't understand why it is wrong to do and why should I responsible for others.

In the end, I was always scolded by my mother... and I got very good result... by cheating myself.

I told myself that I will never scold my children for not getting good result in moral education as I want them to know that what's their right and what should they responsible for... and I want them to know what is their responsible to this society.

Yup. We are still far very from becoming a gracious society and LKY has admit that it won't happen during his lifetime.

Personally I feel that it won't happen during my lifetime either.

And also I know that after several replies, some clowns will write in and start preaching about how good Singapore is compared to other 3rd world country.

My message to them is,

Compare with 3rd World Country and you strive to be one.

Compare with World Class Country and you will be one.

Your Choice.

sometimes it isn't the school or the parent fault for not educating the children. even if they did, most probably seeing the public lacking of basic courtesy and etc, they will slowly become one of them as well. =)

nowadays teachers go school for the sake of going..
as long as students get good result and let them stay out of trouble, they dun mind whether e student's personality is good or bad..

if really there's a good teacher wanna teach a student well...
make them stay back and do reflection, parents will call or come to school to talk to principal
and ask why my son or daughter cannot like this?cannot like that?
why punish my son or daughter?
make dao school so stress also dun bother to teach those moral things le..

the fact not only teenagers who are lack of it... even those adults are the same.... sometimes it just pissed me off.... i met a case yesterday.. i sat alone...so my seat beside me ish empty.... then an adult with her kid...can see the age is ard 4 or 5 already....

she expect me to give up my seat for her..cos her kid cant sit still beside me n keep going over to her n sat on her lap..... i dunno if there is a need to give up the sit to her...cos..... her kid can eventually sit properly opposite her if she was be strict with her kid..but she didnt....

sometimes...being a young parent... doting too much on their kid is bad also?end up... ppl getting off the bus... her kid still insist sitting on her lap..... but i got stared at for my 45mins ride on bus....

Too many people take granted of others being kind too.
You see those elderly rush in and expects people give seat.

I ever saw an elderly woman forcefully squeeze in between despite the fact that there are people sitting there.

I gave up seats to people; but they never even bother saying thanks, as though I HAVE to do so.
I end up give up taking seats and stand instead in whatever transport I taking. =.=

This sort of thing, comes from the heart, Even if its being taught, if that person didn't want to do something like this, no point.

well i guess..some ppl were not thoughtful enough....unlike me..in the mrt most of time won't get place to sit..too thoughtful of others haha...
