But now this Malaysian couple will never tie the knot.
On Saturday night, a traffic accident in Segamat, Johor, shattered their dreams of a life together, reported China Press.
Groom-to-be Lin Weimin, 34, was seriously injured in the crash and died seven hours after being sent to hospital.
His future brother-in-law, Mr Wang Tianfu, 30, who was driving the car the couple were in, died on the spot.
Fiancee Wang Baozhu, 29, and two friends, MissLin Meilan, 25, and Miss Huang Ruixia, 30, were injured.
The third person who was killed was MrChen Qingshan, 37. He was the driver of the other car.
The cars, both Proton Wiras, were travelling in opposite directions when they collided near the entrance to Chaah village at about 11.15pm on Saturday.
The couple and three other friends started their journey from Singapore.
LOST CONTROL
A Segamat police spokesman said that they had left Yong Ping and were heading towards Segamat when the crash occured.
He said initial investigations showed that Mr Chen's car may have lost control before hitting the other vehicle head-on.
The spokesman added that there were roadworks going on where the accident happened.
Mr Chen's car was said to have gone over some gravel on the road. He was believed to have tried to brake his car but couldn't.
The spokesman said that all three who died had head injuries. Mr Chen died on the way to hospital.
Mr Lin's relatives told China Press at the morgue yesterday afternoon that all five in the car worked in Singapore.
Mr Lin had just taken wedding photos with Ms Wang, although relatives declined to say when the wedding was to have taken place.
The police spokesman told China Press that there were no street lights along the road and no signs to warn drivers of the patch of gravel where roadworks were going on.
Residents at Chaah told China Press that the roadworks had started at 2pm on Saturday but as of yesterday afternoon, the contractors had not cleared the gravel from the road nor set up any warning signs.
