About Tuition!

Anyone gives tuition here? Always wanted to try, but somehow don't dare to... :disgust2: Dunno how to teach, more like. And where do you get your assignments from? :biggrin4:

right now i'm tutor-ing math and poa. its quite fun lar being a tutor, but there's pressure on you too to make sure your student does well. =X

I got register at tuition agencies... always timing buay gam, or too far (think Boon Lay, Clementi, Pasir Ris etc... I live at Hougang! :disgust2

get your mum's friends, your friends, relatives etc to recommend you lar! that's how i got my students. =D i wasn't even looking to be a tutor since i'm still a student. but it just sorta happened.

Because i dun hav any experience so i didn't dare to teach..
Normally how do you tutor?
Maybe i can try tutor Maths , science
I did POA in my o levels too does it mean that i can tutor POA too?

Actually to be a good tutor, there are a few skills to master.
1. Understanding your tutee's style of learning
2. Inspiration and movitational skills
3. How to write and plan a good lesson plan
4. How to structure homework and choose practice questions according to
tutee's ability
5. How to structure your lesson playing by ear according to tutee's state of
mind & emotion during the lesson
6. Be clear on how you deliver your lessons and flow of the lessons to your
tutee(s) so that he/she/they can follow what you're doing.

This is my experience from 2 years of giving private tuition. Whether it's 1-1 or a group tuition, the above applies. and what is also important is that your level of proficiency of that subject must be at least 1 level higher than the tutee, meaning you must have an A level to tutor an N or O level student.

than i complain to my mother and i quit liao ..
