The wreckage of the plane, flying from Istanbul to Isparta, was found in the village of Cukuroren, CNN-Turk news channel said.

Tuncay Doganer, the chief executive of Atlasjet, told the channel that a rescue helicopter which landed close to the wreckage near a hill to the northwest of the airport "found no signs of life."

"There are no survivors either among the passengers or the crew," he said.

The plane was carrying 49 passengers and seven crew.

The MacDonnell Douglas 82 disapparead from the radar around 01:36 am (2326 GMT) shortly after the pilot said he was descending to land at Isparta airport. It had taken off from Istanbul at 00:51 am (2251 GMT).

Isparta lies in a mountainous region of Turkey, where winter snow and fog are now common in the higher areas.
