A SINGAPOREAN was killed in Johor on Tuesday after an alleged argument with his nephew.
The Singaporean, 72, who was not named, had been on a regular visit to his home in Pontian, Johor, on Tuesday.
There, he allegedly got into a heated argument over water bills with his 59-year-old nephew, who was house-sitting for him, reported Malaysian paper Harian Metro.
The paper said his nephew allegedly hit his head against a concrete pillar before stamping on it.
According to the police head, Deputy Superintendent Muzammil Hashim, the nephew lost his temper after being accused of not paying water bills.
MrMuzammil added that the suspect was unemployed and was looking after the house while the owner was away in Singapore.
MrMuzammil added: 'The suspect did not use any weapon, probably because there was nothing to use in the prayer room to attack his victim with.
'Instead, he bashed his victim's head against a concrete pillar in the prayer room before stepping on the victim's face and head.
'The victim sustained face and head injuries and died at the scene.'
However, police told reporters that the suspect did not run away from the scene of the crime.
He stayed next to his victim till police arrived.
DSP Muzammil told reporters that the suspect was once a mental patient at Permai Tampoi Hospital in Johor Baru and that he suffers from mental disorders.
Police are classifying the case as murder. FATAL ACCIDENT
