1stly a big thank you to the moderator to put the artwork forum. It will be nice to know more people from Singapore who loves art as well. i very much hope that more people will post works of art and share tips and critique at the same time.

Basically, to put it in a nice way, i am an art lover, to put the term in a more unpleasant way, i am an art freak. So i hope to meet people like me in this forum ( hopefully ).

My aim in art is to create art not from physical references, but from my mind ( already doing it but striving for more improvement ). Its my aim to in the future perfectly convey the surreal/fantasy/emotional/realistic genre of art as my style.

the 1st piece i am showing here ( i know some may have seen this ), is a self-created drawing called Concealed Nakedness.


Concealed Nakedness:


a poem i wrote to go along with this drawing:
She was a naive being
Always carried the innocent thought
That life was always filled with vibrance and beauty
Positive feelings was all she knew

Then one day darkness and gloom rained on her
Just like how positive and negative always come together
Hurt and pain trickled through her veins
All the fears not worth her tears

Emotional roots tangle and suffocate
She sunk deep into the emotions
Scanning down to the very depth
Where she found a heaven that her beauty truely lies

She danced and swirled in the moods of darkness
Ignoring the childish spirits of others
Even when they grasp every means to taunt and slash at her
Once again the positive in her arises
Enjoying the fruits of Concealed Nakedness

General Meaning Of The Drawing:
everyone has been hurt by others, including myself. everyday we tend to think and we look at our inner selves. even so, we are self-concious on how people might look at us from the outside like judging a book by its cover.

the significance of the hair represents a problem ( am example of many problems we face daily ), a trouble, a complication thus its tied into a knot. black and white represents good and evil. i believe there is nothin in between good and evil such as half good. it attracts like how positive with negative like magnetic forces. the white hair is generally neater and pure, while the black as you can see is rather disoriented and messier than the white hair, which in this case made the messy black hair disoriented. finally the hair black and white seperates, a problem, a trouble's resolved.

the background represents a lonely gloom, like clouds rotating like a giant whirl of mood she sunk herself into. its how i visualize a surreal form of how we look at ourselves from within.

her pose is in a dancing position. dancing away all her troubles, fears and uncertainties. the hair ends with a slight glow representing understanding in an emotional form. she touches it and understands how to cope with the trouble.

The current self-imagined drawing i am still in the midst of making is The Ethereal Vow. To give people a little glimpse in the drawing, its about love. The Vow is a promise. i used mermaid and prince love to describe what true love is. i believe that there is true love in this world. After i complete the drawing, i will describe and write poem and general meaning for it.

the drawing will keep improving as i will try to refine the shades to make the atmosphere come to life as much as i can with my current abilities. Hope you all like it so far though!

I think your poem is very well written, it matches the scene in the picture. Also you gave a good explanation for your drawing.
