The Iceman

The Iceman is a 2014 Hong Kong Chinese martial arts film. It is a remake of the 1989 original – The Iceman Cometh, which featured Yuen Biao. The 2014 remake stars Donnie Yen in the lead role.

The storyline is about a mythical warrior frozen during battle, almost 400 years ago during the Ming dynasty, and reawakens in modern-day Hong Kong. The storyline has been changed much from the original film, and the movie has been criticized for lackluster performance, in almost all departments ranging from story to acting to CGI. Donnie Yen does not look like he has any clue why he’s jumping around the rest of the support cast doesn’t really know whom to support.

There are films about which there are tons to say, and then there are films about which you do not want to say anything. The Iceman falls in the second category, and it showcases a classic case of why some original should not be remade.
