Default Re: To those of you who bowl at Balestier CSC Planet Bowl...

First of all, thank you guys for your feedbacks & replies.

I understand Planet Bowl is the homeground to some of you. Don't get me wrong, I am not discrediting the bowling centre or anything. I used to bowl there a lot in 2006 as my company league was held there. I like the relax atmosphere of bowling there and is looking forward to bowl there again if the lanes had improved.

Pyro, good to see that you are very active in promoting bowling. As bowlers, we need more people like you to promote the sport. With due respect, I would still want to make my point clear. Here goes:

'i think to be fair o everybody, its part and parcel of bowling to have the ball tracked up or scratched be it at planet bowl or wherever place there is in this world'

True. I have not bowl around the world, however I had bowled in many places in Singapore enough to find out the differences. Just to quote 2 examples as they were very old and quite poorly maintained. (Also they are no longer around). The old Superbowl Marina South and Victor's Superbowl Marina South. If you know, the lanes there are old woods. I did not have my bowling balls scratched badly there. It's true that some of these bowling centres leave a few small marks on the ball, but I noticed whenever I bowled at planet bowl last time, there are more marks left on the ball than other centres which I had been.

'thats why when the bowlers here got their balls scratched up,all i asked them was "did the scratch affect the track area?if not than leave it cos it wont affect the performance of the ball, only the outlook will be affected and if everytime the ball got scracthed up and u wanna recon it,very soon the ball will shrink to the size until u can keep it at home and use it as a display piece"'

When I bowled there, the scratch marks were all over my track area and it definitely affect ball reaction. That's why I had no choice but to send them for recon.

'at the end of the day,its still up to luck, why would the person who bowl on that pair of lanes before you nvr got your ball damaged but when u bowl on the lanes, your ball got damaged? '

Not true. I had spoken to many 'lau jiao' bowlers and some pro shop owners who used to bowl at Planet Bowl and they also told me their bowling balls were scratched up seriously to the stage that they do not want to bowl there anymore.

However, it seems from the replies that the lanes at Planet Bowl had indeed improved and I believe it has. Looking forward to bowling there sometime in the near future. Oh, one last question. Is the lane oiling pattern long, medium or short now? How many feet of oil? What kind of pattern are they laying most of the time? Thanks and bowl great!
