Yes, in JC you have to be much more conscientious with your work. Last-minute study will hardly get you anywhere.
Put it this way, when you go to a JC, your eventual aim will be to study in a university, because an 'A' level certificate is worthless next to a diploma from a polytechnic.
In that sense, the JC curriculum is many steps up from the secondary school curriculum, because you are being prepared for university.
