You should report the company. How can they say you only distributed half the block. The flyers dont remain there. They are meant to be taken by the residents to read or throw away. The later seems more likely.

Moreover, wind is a factor. Also if you slot on the doors, when people see the flyer, they can choose to
1) take the flyer and read/throw
2) leave the flyer there such that when they open the door, the flyer will drop to the door so it seems like you threw it at the door step.
3) if the door of the residence was originally open, chances are the flyer will still drop even if you tried to slide them between the grilles

So unless the person who claims you only did half the block was with you when you did the job, he/she cannot accuse you of not doing your job. its defamation. By the time they checked if they ever did, some of the flyers could have been taken and read. and trust me, they will not check. They are just making false claims. If they did check they might as well do the job themselves instead of hiring you. It does not make economic sense for anyone to hire someone to do the job and then someone to run the whole block to check again.

Or unless they specifically said to stick to the doors and it is still found on the floor then they may have a case.

I think you should ask the company to check if you did you job 1 week later and tell you that you did not do the job but simply dumped the flyers. Even better. You shouldnt have returned the flyers. Should just dump them.

I have done volunteer flyer distribution before for no salary and can give an unbiased view on this.

I think you need to report this company to prevent them from scamming more people;. Report them to MOM.
