Madagascar 2: The Crate Escape is a sequel to the 2005 film, Madagascar. It is in production by DreamWorks Animation and is scheduled to be released on November 7, 2008. The film will be distributed by Paramount Pictures. DreamWorks announced on their website that Madagascar will become a franchise similar to that of Shrek. As of right now, Madagascar is expected to have two sequels. It has been confirmed that the film will be about the animals starting the plane on Madagascar, and then landing on Africa, and meeting some of Alex's family
