Hmm, interesting discussion so far.
Perhaps I should also share my POV.
In theory, putting something in and getting more out of it is considered an investment to me. So in theory, excluding inflation and other economic influences, putting your money in the bank and getting some interest out is considered an investment. 
All posts made are of subjective nature by default, unless explicitly mentioned. I am afterall still human.
