That's is a bold statement and also a wrong concept. Stock price is not only influence by greed and fear. Stock market is for investors to invest their money in the company to earn some dividends.
Give you a over simplified example, I use colgate toothpaste. I like the company so much and think this company will grow. I invested a certain amount in the company. Every year I get dividends from the company. It is like being paid to use the products.
Stock market becomes scary once there are alot of speculators.
