my mom told me that house warming can help to get rid to 'ying qi' (evil) in the house as human is 'yang qi'.
A seach in the web, found that from feng shui aspects, organize a 'house-warming' party with the presence of guests would bring favourable 'Yang/Sheng Qi' to the house.
