she shld tell him that she only treats him as a friend. i think hes sorta despo since he treats ur gf as his gf even though they never met before. either that or hes those 'soft' type, as in he does that to all of his friends.
perharps he's bored since he smses her so many times a day. or yeah, as you stated, trying to woo her although they never met before.
