Re: DOTA competition! [TEAM 7 VS TEAM 8]- WINNER TEAM 7 :) CONGRAT! Well...i did went back to see the rule page and took great concerned of the fact the phrasing of this rule was rather inappropriate as it first states control sharing is allowed and then goes on with the example of only "passive hero skills" which must have made me assume that you can use the hero that dced.
"Strictly no control sharing. Only when there is one more or team mates disconnects, then you can share the control of that player(s)' hero. No using use of skills and no triggering of passive ability of the leavers /dc(ed) hero. However, you cannot take, pass or sell that hero's item(s). What is no triggering of passive ability?"
Ahh and so on i continue down the page to realize this "Thx ILANLAN, Chikon, KONichiwa, lonerlost, Cerasio for helping with the rules" Apparently 2 of team 7 helped with the rules which made it clear why they were so informative about the details in the rules. Yet to my surprise they exploited that advantage and made use of that to issue a death penalty instead of a warning for something we were totally unaware of.
This unfortunate event also brings concern the actual role of rules in competition. A set of rules is what i believe, meant to be intitiated to prevent exploitation and make the play as fair as possible. In which these set of rules is trying to say that 4 people playing 5 heroes is more advantaged than the initial 5 people playing 5 heroes.
Furthermore i like to add that in other competitions...for example leagues held on a more international level, it is said that using raze to raze wards is not allowed...Yet, it is apparent that cases of accidentally razing ward is quite common in these tournaments and also apparent that the offender team does not get a dq for an unintentional action.
You might want to say that rule is a rule just like law of a country blah blah blah...but let me ask you this.. would a law be made so unclear in the first place? would it be right even if the law seems and is unreasonable?
Enough said, since at the end of the day most of team 7/ their supporters are going to use the same reason over and over again to overule my point; albeit the reasoning really fails to convince me. Well, i hope you enjoy your win for the moment and produce more sportsmanship next time.
