Suspected drug trafficker arrested, Subutex tablets seized SINGAPORE : Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB) officers have arrested a suspected drug trafficker and seized more than 100 Subutex tablets from him.
He had tried to bring the drugs into Singapore on Monday night by concealing them in his rectum.
But CNB officers at the HarbourFront Centre spotted him behaving suspiciously and subjected him to a urine test.
On seeing him nervous and walking awkwardly, they started questioning him.
They then escorted him to the toilet where he extracted three packages sealed with black tape from his rectum.
These packages contained 104 Subutex tablets.
Two more tablets were seized from his home during a follow-up raid.
The drugs had a street value of some S$12,800.
The man will be investigated for importing a controlled drug.
If convicted, he can be jailed a minimum of five years and given five strokes of the cane. |
