Then obviously that's her friends problem.
If she loves you, she should "protect" you instead of laughing it off with them.
Moreover, you said you came from a broken family and you dislike people raking it up.. I believe your gf as your closest "kin" should know how much you detest such criticism. She should prevent the "making-fun-of-you-from-friends" thing and give her friends a warning..
Seems like I can now only see that your gf and her friends are at fault.
