MR Mohd Alias' elder son - Mr Mohamed Nazri, 21 - was in the same ward just a week before his father was admitted.
He had fractured his hip bone.
The pest control technician was standing in front of a van, talking on his handphone, when his friend, who was in the driver's seat, accidentally stepped on the accelerator.
The vehicle lurched forward, hitting him and pinning him to the wall.
A metal plate had to be inserted in his right hip bone.
Visiting his father was like deja vu for Mr Nazri.
He said: 'My father was admitted just four days after I was discharged. His bed is two beds away from where I was.'
But now the family is worried about the medical bills.
Mr Nazri's medical expenses, which came to nearly $2,000, were paid from his father's Medisave account.
Mr Alias had also used it to pay for his stepmother's five week-stay in hospital after she suffered a stroke last month.
Mr Alias now says there aren't enough funds in the account to pay his own bills.
That apart, he is worried about the loss of income for the four months that he will be unable to work.
He often pays the utilities bill of the flat which he shares with his stepmother and stepbrother and his two teenage children.
His eldest child, a 26-year-old daughter, is married and lives separately from him while his two sons, Mr Nazri and a 19-year-old, live with their mother.
