I personally prefer:
4. Problem: Pollution due to overuse of electricity.
Solution: Energy saving kit.
The solutions to reducing use of electricity are many, not just limited to energy saving kits. They can be solar energy, hydrogen fuel cells, Earthship houses (in America, many people build houses using soil and old tyres) etc.
If your family has subscribed to Starhub SCV, look out for shows on energy conservation and innovation energy/fuel creation for domestic use on Saturdays and Sundays. These are very good references for your project.
