Re: 八字 A way to calculate the strenght of DMother than the usual way, i wanna share this method!
First, allocate points for each of the 8 positions in the 4P chart. All positions are allocated 10 points except the month branch with 30 points. Total points for entire chart will be 100 points.
Hour Day Month Year
10 10 10 10
10 10 30 10
Next, you can decide whether to allocate points to enhancing elements or weakening elements. I usually choose enhancing elements. If the total points of the enhancing elements exceeds 50 points, then the DM is strong, else it is weak. If it is between 45 ? 55 points, it can be considered quite balanced, depending on other factors.
For hidden stems under each of the branch pillar, use the following guidelines.
For all Earth branches such as Chen, Si, Chou and Wei, the point strength for their hidden stems are in the order of 6, 3 and 1. Example for Chou, the hidden stem strength under Chou will be Wu( 6 ), Gui( 3 ) and Xin( 1 ).
For all Flower branches such as Zi, Wu, Mao and You, the point strength will 10 each, with the exception of Wu which will be Ding( 8 ) and Ji( 2 ).
For all Horse branches such as Yin, Shen, Si and Hai, the point strength for their hidden stems are in the order of 7, 2 and 1. For Hai, since there are only 2 hidden stems, the point strength will be Ren( 7 ) and Jia (3 ).
For month branch, since the points will be 30, you need to use ratio to allocate the strength of the hidden stems under the month branch accordingly, depending whether they are Earth, Flower or Horse elements.
For example in this chart below, the points allocated will be:
Ji Wu Ren Ren
Wei Chen Yin Xu
Stems: 10 10 0 0
Hidden Stems: 6 6 0 6
3 0 2x3 0
0 0 1x3 1
Total enhancing element points: 10+6+3+10+6+6+3+6+1 = 51 and weakening elements will be 49.
51 points is almost balanced, you can technically consider it as a slightly strong chart. As I have said, other factors can be taken into consideration as well.
