Basketball: Singapore Slingers beat South Dragons 104-96
SINGAPORE: The Singapore Slingers have bounced back from a 14-point quarter-time deficit to deny the South Dragons their maiden Philips Championship win.
The Slingers won 104 to 96 at the Singapore Indoor Stadium on Wednesday night.
The Dragons - from Melbourne, Australia - raced out of the blocks to forge a 32-18 lead at the first break, but the hosts hit back in the second quarter, turning a 14-point deficit into a five-point lead at half-time.
Number 35 Marquin Chandler starred for Singapore with 32 points and nine rebounds.
The home side stretched their lead after the break and survived a late comeback by the Dragons to hold on for the victory.
The win leaves the Slingers in eighth place in the table.
The Slingers will be back in action on Friday night when they head to Sydney for a clash with the Razorbacks. - CNA /dt
